London Walking Tour July 18, 2023

Disclaimer: Please keep in mind, I’m not a professional writer. I will apologize now for any incorrect grammar, long confusing sentences odd metaphors, and anything else that doesn't make sense. If you want to read my entire disclaimer, go here.

Please note this is a 10-mile tour in regards to distance.  It does not include all the extra steps you will use inside the museums etc. You may want to double-check which of the museums you are interested in or take your Oyster Card.

I started out a Trafalgar Square, remember Trafalgar Square has the world’s smallest Police Box. The Nelson Column, which is made from Devon mined granite has a set of lions at the base to emphasize the heroism of Horatio Nelson. Then don’t forget the fountains are there to prevent large public gatherings. Plus, don’t forget to take a close look at the pedestrian crossings. In 2016 diverse pedestrian traffic signals were introduced to support Pride of London.

While you are at Trafalgar Square you may want to hop in St. Martin-in-the-Fields and check out the window and the crypt.

From there I made my way over Goodwin’s Court. You will recognize the place from movies like Harry Potter and Mary Poppins to name a few.

I passed by St. Martin’s Lane, Leicester Square dating back to 1670, and Ham Yard, which owes its name to a public house called The Ham in the early 18th- century.https://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=129UhClNqTZpDxJIl6deksQgxmI3sD7Fs
I was making my way to the Broad Street Cholera Pump.  I have been there before but wanted to check out the area in more detail because I read the book, The Great Troubles: A Mystery of London, the Blue Death, and a Boy Called Eel. It talked in detail about this area and I did enjoy walking all these side streets Eel was running through.

If you need a break, hop into a pub, get a pint, and stand outside drink your pint and smoke a cigarette and everyone will think you are a local even if you have an odd German/American/Something Else Accent.

You need to walk all the little side streets and you will find some cool cars.

I was a little disappointed with the St. Pancras Church.  The church is in the Greek revival style and is a copy of the Erechtheion on the Acropolis in Athens.

Next he Wellcome Collection, which had a number of great exhibits

A little tip, I discovered that there is an entrance to the British Museum from Montague Place, which never apparently nobody knows about.

The Pancras Hotel is a building that always takes my breath away.

From there I made my way to the British Library.  It is an amazing building and there is Charlotte Bronte's manuscript of Jane Eyer, which I saw on a previous visit with a friend. It also is home to the Magna Carta, some of Shakespeare's works, Beatles lyrics and so much more.

I forgot the Pancras Hotel always has this car parked in front.  It has become another tourist attraction.

I bought some ice cream
